Taxonomy
Samaropsis whitensis was named by Ash (1999). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NMMNHS P-7088. Its type locality is White Lakes Plant Locality, which is in a Triassic fluvial mudstone in the Carita Creek Formation of New Mexico.
