Pterophyllum cheondaeriense was named by Kimura and Kim (1989). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is T-0126A. Its type locality is Cheondaeri, Chungnam Coalfield, which is in a Triassic fluvial horizon in the Amisan Formation of South Korea.
