Dinosorex was named by Engesser (1972). It is not extant. Its type is Sorex sansaniensis.
It was assigned to Soricidae by Carroll (1988); and to Heterosoricinae by Engesser (1972), Engesser (1975), Rzebik-Kowalska (1994) and Ziegler (1998).
