Taxonomy
Leptacodon was named by Matthew and Granger (1921). It is not extant. Its type is Leptacodon tener.

It was synonymized subjectively with Entomolestes by McKenna (1960) and Delson (1971); it was synonymized subjectively with Talpavus by Robinson (1968).

It was assigned to Leptictinae by Hay (1930); to Adapisoricinae by Van Valen (1967); to Nyctitheriinae by Lopatin (2006); and to Nyctitheriidae by Matthew and Granger (1921), Gazin (1969), Krishtalka (1976), Bown and Schankler (1982), Hooker (1986), Gingerich (1987), Carroll (1988), Gunnell et al. (2008) and Rose et al. (2012).
