Taxonomy

Micropternodus was named by Matthew (1903). Its type is Micropternodus borealis.

It was assigned to Zalambdodonta by Matthew (1903); to Solenodontidae by Hay (1930); to Micropternodontinae by Lopatin (2006); and to Micropternodontidae by Van Valen (1967), Ostrander (1983), Carroll (1988), Gunnell et al. (2008) and Korth et al. (2022).

Synonyms

Kentrogomphios was named by White (1954). Its type is Kentrogomphios strophensis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Micropternodus by Russell (1960), Reed (1961), Stirton and Rensberger (1964), Reed and Turnbull (1965), Van Valen (1966), Van Valen (1967), Robinson (1968), Ostrander (1987) and Asher et al. (2002).
