Anonaspermum was named by Ball (1931). It is not extant. Its type is Anonaspermum reidi.

It was assigned to Annonaceae by Chandler (1961) and Andrews (1970); and to Anonaceae by Chandler (1963), Chandler (1964) and Chandler (1978).
