Plesiodimylus was named by Gaillard (1897). It is not extant. Its type is Plesiodimylus chantrei.
It was assigned to Plesiodimylinae by Van Valen (1967); and to Dimylidae by Carroll (1988) and Rzebik-Kowalska (1996).
