Taxonomy
Archaeomnium patens was named by Britton (1926). It is not extant. Its type locality is Cut No. 1, Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway, which is in a Miocene fluvial shale in the Latah Formation of Washington. It is the type species of Archaeomnium.
