Taxonomy
Flabellaria borassifolia was named by Sternberg (1822). It is not extant. It is the type species of Cordaites, Pychnophyllum, Neozamia.

It was recombined as Neozamia borassifolia by Pomel (1846); it was recombined as Pychnophyllum borassifolia by Brongniart (1849); it was recombined as Cordaites borassifolia by Unger (1850).
