Taxonomy
Plesiadapoidea was named as a superfamily. It was considered monophyletic by Bloch et al. (2007).

It was reranked as the suborder Plesiadapoidea by Gingerich (1973).

It was assigned to Primates by Gingerich (1973); to Plesiadapiformes by Carroll (1988), Gunnell (1989), Fox (1990) and Fox (1991); and to Euprimateformes by Bloch et al. (2007) and Silcox et al. (2010).
