Tellina flexuosa was named by Montagu (1803) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10689]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Amphidesma flexuosa by Lamarck (1818); it was recombined as Thyasira flexuosa by Leach (1818), Beesley (1998), Stilwell et al. (2004) and Hendy (2021).
