Gazinius was named by Bown (1979). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Anaptomorphus by Szalay (1982).

It was assigned to Omomyidae by Bown (1979), Stucky (1984), Gunnell (1995) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Anaptomorphini by Gunnell and Rose (2002).
