Taxonomy
Dictyospongia was named by Hall and Clarke (1899) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l C Mosc-l Sepkoski's reference number: 4,262,880]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Dictyospongiinae.

It was assigned to Reticulosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dictyospongiinae by Rigby et al. (1970) and Finks and Rigby (2004).
