Dipsalidictis was named by Matthew and Granger (1915). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Oxyaena by Denison (1938), Van Valen (1966), Van Valen (1967), Gingerich (1980) and Rose (1981).

It was assigned to Oxyaenidae by Matthew and Granger (1915), Gingerich (1989), Gunnell (1998) and Rose et al. (2012).
