Hydriodictya was named by Hall and Clarke (1899) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-u C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 234]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Reticulosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calathospongiinae by Finks et al. (2004).
