Pseudohydnoceras was named by Reimann (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give]. It is not extant. Its type is Pseudohydnoceras erraticum.

It was assigned to Reticulosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pelicaspongiidae by Finks et al. (2004).
