Triticispongia was named by Mehl and Reitner (1993) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1214]. It is not extant. Its type is Triticispongia diagonata.
It was assigned to Reticulosa by Sepkoski (2002); to Protospongiidae by Finks et al. (2004); and to Porifera by Bambach et al. (2007).
