Taxonomy
Microhemidiscia was named by Kling and Reif (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash Sepkoski's reference number: 264]. It is the type genus of Microhemidisciidae.

It was assigned to Hemidiscosa by Sepkoski (2002); to Microhemidisciidae by Finks and Rigby (2004); and to Hemidiscellidae by Mouro et al. (2014).
