Anthocyrtidium was named by Haeckel (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pterocorythidae by O'Conner (1994) and De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
