Taxonomy
Compsostrobus neotericus was named by Delevoryas and Hope (1973). It is not extant. Its type locality is Fertile Conifer/Pekin Formation, which is in a Carnian terrestrial shale/shale in the Pekin Formation of North Carolina. It is the type species of Compsostrobus.
