Pseudomeriones was named by Schaub (1934). It is not extant. Its type is Lophocricetus abbreviatus.
It was assigned to Cricetidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Gerbillidae by Sen (2001); and to Gerbillinae by de Bruijn et al. (1970) and Vasileiadou and Sylvestrou (2009).
