Taxonomy
Rigbyella was named by Mostler and Mosleh-Yazdi (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm u Sepkoski's reference number: 218]. It is not extant. Its type is Rigbyella ruttneri.

It was assigned to Hexactinellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stiodermatidae by Finks et al. (2004).
