Taxonomy
Conoteuthis hayakawai was named by Fuchs and Niko (2010). Its type specimen is NSM PM23442 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is R6307, Nakakinembetsu River, which is in a Turonian offshore sandstone in the Saku Formation of Japan.
