Kasibelinurus was named by Pickett (1993). Its type is Kasibelinurus amicorum. It is the type genus of Kasibelinuridae. It was considered paraphyletic by Lamsdell (2016).

It was assigned to Kasibelinuridae by Pickett (1993), Lamsdell (2016), Lamsdell (2020) and Dunlop et al. (2020).
