It was assigned to Omnivora by Leidy (1873); to Limnotheriidae by Hay (1902); to Bunomerycidae by Gentry and Hooker (1988); to Artiodactyla by Leidy (1870), Matthew (1909) and Carroll (1988); to Homacodontini by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Homacodontidae by Theodor et al. (2007).
