Indomeryx was named by Pilgrim (1928). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Hypertragulidae by Qiu (1978) and Carroll (1988); to Prodremotheridae by Guo et al. (1999); to Pecora by Métais et al. (2000); to Lophiomerycidae by Vislobokova (2001); and to Ruminantia by Tsubamoto et al. (2003).
