Baissoptera pankowskiorum was named by Lu et al. (2020). Its type specimen is SEMC F000385, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (SEMC Kansas coll), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.
