Ammonites winterbottomi was named by Salter (1865). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BMNH C. 4852. Its type locality is Niti Pass (Anisian), which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in India.
It was recombined as Paraceratites winterbottomi by Spath (1934).
