Taxonomy
Ankalagon was named by Van Valen (1980) [replacement name for Ancalogon]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Mesonychinae by Zhou et al. (1995); and to Mesonychidae by Van Valen (1980), Carroll (1988), McKenna and Bell (1997), Gingerich (1998), Archibald (1998) and Thewissen et al. (2001).
