Taxonomy

Microtitan was named by Granger and Gregory (1943).

It was assigned to Epimanteoceratinae by Granger and Gregory (1943); to Brontotheridae by Carroll (1988) and Prothero and Schoch (1989); and to Brontotheriini by Mihlbachler (2008).

Species

M. elongatus, M. mongoliensis

Synonyms

Microtitan elongatus was named by Qi (1987). Its type specimen is IVPP V5767, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Daatein Obo, which is in an Eocene terrestrial siliciclastic in China.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Mihlbachler (2008).
