Taxonomy
Typhloproetus schindewolfi was named by Richter and Richter (1919). It is the type species of Typhloproetus (Silesiops), Silesiops (Silesiops).

It was recombined as Silesiops (Silesiops) schindewolfi by Brauckmann et al. (1993); it was recombined as Typhloproetus (Silesiops) schindewolfi by Chlupac (1966) and Feist et al. (2000).

Feist et al. 2000Untergattung der Gattung Typhloproetus mit folgenden Besonderheiten des Cephalons: Glabella schwach gewölbt, Occipitallobus zum Hinterrand ansteigend, lange Wangenstacheln; breite Festwangen, Suturverlauf konkav, manchmal mit geringer Palpebral-Ausbuchtungh, intenweit nach außen biegend und die Hintersaumfurche distal über-querend; relieflose Augenfläche manchmal schwach erhalten.
