Xiang 1998 | A new subfamily of Phillipsiidae (Oehlert,1886), Hahn, Hahn and Brauckmann, 1980 with the following features: Cranidium gently vaulted, subtrapezoidal in outline; glabella hardly upraised above cheek area, truncated conical to subcylindrical in outline, with 3-4 pairs of obsolete glabellar furrows; occipital furrow distinct medially, shallowing laterally, isolating from the dorsal furrows, with faint lateral branches; occipital ring with or without inconspicuous to distinct occipital solution; anterior border broad (sag.) and flat; palpebral lobe moderately long and narrow (tr.) to rudimentary, fairly distant from glabella; eye ridges distinct in meraspid period, rudimentary in adults; facial suture from fJ to () nearly straight , slanting backwards, r a n d E. far from dorsal furrows; eye medium in size to absent; free cheek with or without genal spine; thorax with 7 segments; pygidium gently vaulted, with suppressed relief of axial rings and pleural ribs in adults; pygidial border well differentiated with 7-8 pairs of marginal spines in meraspid period. |
