Taxonomy
Proetus rondeaui was named by Oehlert (1889). It is the type species of Oehlertia, Oehlertaspis.
It was recombined as Oehlertia rondeaui by Pillet (1973); it was recombined as Oehlertaspis rondeaui by Pillet and Vanĕk (1974).
