Taxonomy

Caenolophus was named by Matthew and Granger (1925). Its type is Caenolophus promissus.

It was assigned to Rhinocerotoidea by Wall and Manning (1986); to Hyracodontidae by Matthew and Granger (1925) and Carroll (1988); and to Amynodontidae by Prothero and Schoch (1989).

Synonyms

Euryodon was named by Xu et al. (1979). It is not extant.

Teilhardia was named by Prothero and Schoch (1989). Its type is Teilhardia pretiosa.

It was synonymized subjectively with Caenolophus by Wall and Manning (1986), Prothero and Schoch (1989) and Prothero and Schoch (1989).
