Taxonomy
Cyrtoproetus planus was named by Engel and Morris (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NU L356. Glen William, south of Dungog, which is in a Tournaisian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone/limestone in the Ararat Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Thalabaria.
It was recombined as Thalabaria plana by Engel and Morris (1989).
