Dromoceratherium was named by Crusafont et al. (1955). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Rhinocerotidae by Carroll (1988); to Aceratheriinae by Prothero and Schoch (1989); and to Rhinocerotinae by Lu et al. (2016).
