Taxonomy
Cyrtosymbole (Cyrtosymbole) playfordi was named by Feist and Becker (1997). Its type specimen is GSWA- F49820, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 17. Sprite Ridge, near Bob's Bore in Virgin Hills, which is in a Famennian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Virgin Hills Formation of Australia.
