It was assigned to Moeritherioidea by Carroll (1988); to Proboscidea by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Anthracobunia by Ginsburg et al. (1999); to Tethytheria by Gheerbrandt et al. (2005) and Rose et al. (2006); and to Perissodactyla by Rose et al. (2014) and Cooper et al. (2014).
