Taxonomy
Palaeothentes serratus was named by Engelman et al. (2017). It is not extant. Its type specimen is UF 27882, a maxilla (left maxilla preserving P3–M4 and a left dentary with the base of i2, crown of u2, roots of u1 and u3–4, and complete p3–m2, both from the same subadult individ).
