Shurabia creta was named by Aristov (2020). Its type specimen is PIN 5026/1484, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Khasurty (PIN collection 5026), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Russian Federation.
