Taxonomy
Arctostylops was named by Matthew (1915). It is not extant. Its type is Arctostylops steini. It is the type genus of Arctostylopini.

It was assigned to Arctostylopini by Tong and Wang (2006); and to Arctostylopidae by Matthew (1915), Carroll (1988) and Missiaen et al. (2012).
