Taxonomy
Polyacrodon was named by Roth (1899). Its type is Polyacrodon ligatus.

It was replaced with Oroacrodon by Ameghino (1904); it was synonymized subjectively with Polymorphis by Cifelli (1983).

It was assigned to Placentalia by Roth (1899); and to Proterotheriidae by Simpson (1948) and Carroll (1988).
