Pampatherium

Taxonomy
Pampatherium was named by Ameghino (1875) [type P. humboldti from South America]. Its type is Chlamytherium humboldtii.

It was synonymized subjectively with Chlamydotherium by Ameghino (1889).

It was assigned to Pampatheriinae by Cartelle and Bohorquez (1984); to Dasypodidae by Ameghino (1891), Carroll (1988) and Salles et al. (2006); and to Pampatheriidae by Edmund (1996), McKenna and Bell (1997), Mead et al. (2007) and Rincón et al. (2008).

Carapace with scapular and pelvic shields; between both mobile straps;
not rigid flow tube with rings; boards with large central figure
high; skull long, with narrow rostrum; tympanic bulla bit
bulky; pterigoideana expansion feature; zygomatic arch complete
with suborbital process; dental formula 9/9 with at least
the first tooth in the premaxilla, three first teeth not lobate,
the remaining with lobulation and occlusal surface flat. phalanges
previous distal-shaped claws, while the latter are
shortened in the manner of hooves.
