Taxonomy

Hapalops was named by Ameghino (1887). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ortotheridae by Ameghino (1891) and Ameghino (1894); to Tardigrada by Gaudin (1995); to Megatheriidae by Carroll (1988) and McDonald (1997); and to Megalonychidae by Ameghino (1897) and Varela et al. (2019).

Synonyms

Stenocephalus was named by Mercerat (1891).

It was synonymized subjectively with Hapalops by Ameghino (1894).
