Taxonomy

Palaeanodon was named by Matthew (1918). Its type is Palaeanodon ignavus.

It was assigned to Metacheiromyidae by Matthew (1918), Hay (1930), Rose (1978), Carroll (1988), Gheerbrant et al. (2005) and Rose et al. (2012); and to Palaeanodonta by Kondrashov and Agadjanian (2012).
