Taxonomy
Acritohippus quinni was named by Kelly (1995). Its type specimen is UCMP 65338, a partial skull (partial skull), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Upper Dry Canyon 1, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Caliente Formation of California.
