Taxonomy
Reithroparamys pattersoni was named by Wood (1962). Its type locality is Exposure 3/4 Mile up Nuckoll's Creek, which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial horizon in the DeBeque Formation of Colorado.
It was synonymized subjectively with Paramys excavatus by Guthrie (1971); it was recombined as Acritoparamys pattersoni by Korth (1984), Emry and Korth (1989) and Ivy (1990).
