Agriochoerus minimus was named by Douglass (1902) [also said to be 1902]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thompson Creek, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial claystone in Montana.
It was recombined as Protoreodon minimus by Wilson (1971), Golz (1976) and Tabrum and Nichols (2001).
