Taxonomy
Aletocyon multicuspus was named by Romer and Sutton (1927) [genotype; misspelt "multicuspidens" and "multicuspis" by later authors]. Its type locality is Raw Hide Buttes (Lower Harrison), which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
It was recombined as Phlaocyon multicuspus by Wang et al. (1999) and Wang et al. (2008).
