Taxonomy
Alphadon creber was named by Fox (1971). Its type locality is Verdigris Coulee (UA-MR-6), which is in a Santonian terrestrial sandstone/shale in the Milk River Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Protalphadon creber by Cifelli (1990); it was recombined as Varalphadon creber by Johanson (1996) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
